Announcing the Arrival of Alex

Geoff, Jack and I are very excited to announce the arrival of our newest family member,

Alexander Ryan Lucas!!

Alex arrived via c-section on June 25, 2009 at 8:14 am. The delivery was amazing and I all of my fears were for nothing. Geoff and I arrived at the hospital at 5:30 follow shortly by my mom. The wonderful nurses started pre-op procedures immediately and I was a nervous wreck. They wheeled me into the operating room at about 7:40 where a wonderful guy named Mike administered the spinal and talked me through everything. Geoff came in and sat at my right side and held my hand throughout the procedure while Mike whispered to me everything that the doctor was doing and what I could expect to feel throughout the surgery. I could not have done nearly as well as I did without the support of Geoff and Mike. Alex was born at 8:14 and Geoff was able to watch Dr. Garcini deliver him. Our little loud mouth let out his first cry (which sounded more like a big chirp) before he was even out into the world. They cleaned him up and brought him to us and we fell in love. Geoff went off to introduce Alex to his Mimi Hawke and watch the nurses and doctors check him out in the nursery. I returned to the recovery room around 9 and was able to nurse Alex by about 9:45. By 10:40 they took us to the postpartum room where I have remained since. Later on his birthday Alex was able to meet his big brother, Jack, Papa Hawke, Grandma and Grandpa Lucas, Uncle Billy and Marissa (his future Godmother). I can't say enough nice things about the staff at Silver Cross. It has been a wonderful experience and each and every nurse and doctor has been amazing. Alex has passed every test and examination with flying colors and my recovery has been very smooth. We have done so well that they are letting us go home today, a full day earlier than expected!

Geoff and I are really looking forward to introducing our little angel to all of his friends and family soon. We really appreciate all of the kind wishes and especially the prayers of our friends and family.
