My Big Boy

I just can't believe how much my little baby has grown up. He is such a little man as you can see in these new pics from Sunday evening. Jack is almost 14 months old. He is a great walker and runner. Loves to play with his Glow Worm and Monkey and get into everything that he shouldn't. He has the greatest expressions and makes lots of noises and is starting to say more and more "words." Most of his words need some translation from mommy or daddy. He loves to say mama and refuses to say dada (just to tease daddy), he can say "hey Jack" and "where's Jack" and "what's that" and "I that". His newest words are "outside," "on" and "light". He has such a great personality and is so easy going. We are so blessed!!

Go Cubs Go

Thanks to a good friend, Geoff and I had a chance to get to the Cubs vs. Orioles game on Wednesday night. The seats were great (as you can see from the picture of our view) and it was great to get away and eat some yummy ballpark food! It was also exciting that Uncle Billy babysat for Jack all by himself and did a great job. He even changed his first diaper and it wasn't a pretty one!!

Our Indy Friends

There is nothing better than seeing friends. And that was the case today when Rachel, Kyle and Ryan came for a visit. We definately don't get to see enough of our friends from Indiana, especially now that it costs so much to drive there! Rachel's boys are wonderful. Kyle is now 5 and so smart! Ryan is 2 and has such a great personality! The boys played together (well near each other most of the time) and we had a wonderful lunch together before all the boys need naps and our friends were on there way. We hope to see then again very, very soon.

The Not So Festive Festival

Anyone who has visited my fair city over Labor Day weekend can attest that we throw one heck of a festival. Other than the Scarecrow Fest in St. Charles and the Johnny Appleseed Fest in Indiana, I haven't attended many festivals lately. So today when we awoke (too late for church - thanks to Jack) and the sun was shining brightly we wanted to get out and do something. We looked online and searched the newspaper and found the ad for a nearly local festival. The brightly colored 1/2 page ad boasted of a petting farm, pony rides, food booths, crafts, carnival, magic show, and other exciting acts and events. So we anxiously waited for Jack to nap and packed up and headed out to the festival. An hour later we sat down at Pepe's for lunch. The festival was not festive. No magic or animals to pet and no pony to ride. They didn't even have food worth overpaying for. All in all we had a wonderful lunch at Pepe's and sang along with the oldies in car. I'm okay with it since I was with my favorite guys.

Sick Baby

It's the worst and hardest part of being a mom... a sick baby. Poor Jack started out crabby last week as two brand new teeth broke through on the bottom (numbers 9 and 10). From there is progressed until yesterday and today he is one sick little pup. He's got a left ear infection (gets one of those every time teeth come in) and a nasty little virus that looks just like what Daddy had a couple weeks ago. The virus comes with a very high fever (as far as we can tell he peaked at 103.5), a sore throat, a tummy ache and chills and aches all over. My poor little guy. Hopefully the Tylenol, Motrin, Zithromax cocktail that he is enjoying with work it's magic. By the way the meds create something of a fruit cocktail for Jack with strawberry Tylenol, grape Motrin and cherry flavored Zithromax - makes it almost worth it - okay, maybe not.

Children's Museum

Oh, what a day we had with Jamie and Joseph. Today we visited the Dupage County Children's Museum with Jamie and Joseph to celebrate Auntie Jamie's birthday and just have fun. And did we ever! There was so much to do and learn and play. By the time we left even the grown-ups needed naps. Definitely a great place for kids! We are planning to visit again and next time we might even make it to the second floor.

Swimming Pool

It's HOT... HOT... HOT!! Our little fishy enjoyed his first dip in the little swimming pool today. And he loved it! As you can see he jumped right in head first and never looked back. Check out the video to the right for more swimming fun!
